Umm guys i got a thought(no disrespect) so we were learning politics(im in india)and we learn that muslims community were the most backward in india and our teacher said that"one of the reasons that the books can not even say is underage marriage" and in my thought i was kind of shock like i saw muslims in Instagram really not that backward but our teacher said"do u see the difference between turkey/dubai muslims and indian/afganistan muslims" and i understood what she meant Soo guys whats ur opinion on this no disrespect
@Ruatsangi Rs what exactly is your question bro??? You wanna know why muslims in India are backward?? No offense dude but isn't India a developing country, which means the entire population needs development and are more or less backward

@Ruatsangi Rs you'll notice that underage marriage is common or the only place where it occurs are in 3rd world countries where poverty is common, almost all the time the reason for child marriages is so the family with the kid gets some "compensation" in the name of dowry (I think, i don't remember whats it called) because they're just selling their child in the guise of marriage just to live life a little bit more comfortably albeit selfishly because they're so sunken in poverty. So Islam or religion has absolutely no correlation with child marriage and anywhere you see that underage marriage is a thing of this specific religion, then that's just false info done on bias or because of higher rates of it among that religion
But if you want opinions specifically regarding islam, then islam condemns any marriage between two people where one of them is unwilling, even the trend of arranged marriages are done on the bases of the man AND the woman's liking Islam has extreme rules regarding this in the sense that if the woman dislikes her arranged marriage partner then she is not obligated to even state the reason to her family and her family is not allowed to pressure her into the marriage. . . Also You say that your teacher said that the book can't even say that underage marriage is the reason of 'backwardness' of Muslims because of how even underage marriage is, right? If you look a this from a another direction than it's just your teacher showing prejudice towards Muslims without fact checking anything at all and is just conveying the words of other prejudiced people and being islamophobic, because after all it isn't even mentioned in the book right?
