Sometimes it's just complicated, the relationship with your parents.... I have a very strange relationship with mine as well so I can see where he is coming from. His dad loves him but after so many years of not showing it and basically ignoring him, now he doesn't know how to properly communicate with his grown son. I think the last panel just shows that the father finally understood that his son is all grown up.
