AND IN CHAPTER 29, AHJUICCY SAYS THAT HE WILL WAIT FOR EUIJOON FOR 3 YEARS.
THIS MAKES SENSE YOU GUYS BECAUSE IF THEY END UP TOGETHER SO SOON EVERYTHING WILL BE SO QUICK , IT IS TOO SOON FOR EUIJOON, IT COULD BE TOO MUCH FOR HIM, YOU SEE HE USED TO LIKE A GUY BEFORE FOR 3 YEARS AND AHJUICCY WANTED EUIJOON TO FULLY LOVE HIMSELF AND FOCUS ON HIMSELF FIRST. AND Y'ALL EUIJOON IS STILL IN COLLEGE AND AHJUICCY MIGHT BE EYEING EUIJOON AS SOMEONE HE WANTS TO LIVE THE REST OF HIS LIFE.
IN SHORT, AHJUICCY LEFT AS AN ACT OF SELFLESSNESS, SO EUIJOON COULD FOCUS ON HIMSELF, GROW AS AN INDIVIDUAL AND TO ALSO FOCUS ON HIS BROTHER.
YOU GUYS, AHJUICCY IS THE BEST MALE LEAD EVER. HE IS SO MATURE. HE UNDERSTANDS CONSENT. HE NEVER FORCES EUIJOON. HE ALWAYS THINK FOR HIS SAFETY AND LIFE FIRST. HE IS THE BEST.

YES I ALSO COMMENTED ON CHAPTER 29 UGH I LOVE THIS STORY SO MUCH
We still don't know. But he could've atleast told Eiujoon his true motive coz that broke Eiujoon apart. He suffered so much since Ahjussi were nowhere to be found an instant. I mean he left him with millions of questions that made him anxious and got him overthinking every single day. HE COULD'VE ATLEAST THOUGHT OF HOW EUIJOON WOULD FEEL. I mean is that hard to do before leaving a broken college student like that?! Take note, he's still been taking care of his brother at that time
Stop making excuses for Ahjussi. Leaving someone WHEN THEY NEED YOU THE MOST, when their only family left is still in coma... That would NEVER HELP ANYONE to love themselves more nor grow as an individual... Being abandoned in such a situation, when you need emotional support and guidance, would logically only create BOTTOMLESS HEART-SHATERRING LONELINESS. And it's clear that such an abrupt separation, with no closure, only damaged Eui Joon's self-esteem and self-respect, to the point he doesn't believe he deserves better. So, never say something as stupid as abandoning someone with no explanation is being "selfless". It's offensive to suggest that.
Ahjussi had his reasons, but they were not selfless at all. Ahjussi was scared, being in a compromising situation of debt and trapped in a dangerous work field. He left Eui Joon because he didn't have the courage to be completely open with him, because he didn't trust Eui Joon to be able to understand him/his story, because he got overwhelmed... In other words, Ahjussi left to deal with his own issues, and to protect his own feelings from a possible eventual rejection... He prioritized himself. That's all there is to it.
Also, don't infantilize Eui Joon. He was not a high schooler nor just starting university... He was finishing university, already working at the same time than studying, already having to be responsible for a sick relative, already living by himself, already knew his sexuality and comforatble with it and out of the closet to his friends, already on his middle twenties. He had little experience with dating, but it wasn't a predatory situation nor a situation in which ahjussi had to wait because the other guy was too young... Those are all excuses. It's actually ahjussi the one who was confused with his sexuality and hesitant at first.
The 3 years thing is obviously something the author prepared to make the story have forshadowing and eventually make the plot go full circle... But, from the characters perspective, that's not a real agreement nor a promise nor anything... It was just ahjussi impulsively showing that he had the determination to "wait for Joon"... Since Joon had been recently heartbroken by a jerk... But ultimately, ahjussi didn't kept that pseudo-promise, it was all talk. Ahjussi never waited, he just left.
*"Waiting for someone" in a romantic sense implies "going slow", starting as friends or in a more casual relationship before making things official... It implies getting to know each other better slowly, deepening your relationship, before comitement... It's not about being completely separated without any communication for a while, that's THE CONTRARY of "waiting for you".
The point: ahjussi had his reasons and I have compassion for him... I don't blame him for everything. However, he didn't left because his a good guy nor did leaving made him a good guy. Let's not lie. And ahjussi isn't narcissictic or abusive with his partners, but he's NOT "a walking green flag" or a saint neither. He has defects and makes mistakes and does have his own few toxic traits. He's human. But not a role model or anything.
