I understand where Leo comes from but it's not Shuden fault that Eden died. His father was the one who poisoned the well (poison he could have survived had his brothers shared the cake with him btw)

It was the grandfather who did it not the father. All the children have different fathers but the same mother. The mother belongs to the Garth family that's why all the children have red eyes. Only Shuden have both blonde hair and red eyes. That's why he was taken and the other was considered trash.
Even after the youngest had died the grandfather fed Leo a type of poison that causes his eyes to turn color because he was disgusting that his family blood runs through his veins.

The mother doesnt come from garth. The grandfather does not have red eyes hence its not a symbol of garth. Its only the blonde hair which the mother doesnt have. Their eyes are a sign that they run in the same "dirty" blood thats why the grandfather murdered the siblings to eliminate all plausible relations. They are siblings but only caleb is the true successor of garth. The rest just have the same mother which means they are step-siblings.
in the nobility world, they are considered worse than illegitimate children because its not even the same father. Hence, they were massacred.
