Man it took me this long to get why she fell for him in the past timeline. She is always restricting herself because of her duties but after the fall she was free from them and had the opportunity to act for herself and since Nie Li was there with her coincidentally,they fell in love. These chance meetings are really mysterious yet quite precious if you think about it.
