He has severe cptsd, and other trauma related illness. It is actually one of the better representations of trauma in bl. So it makes complete sense he can't believe any of it.
I mean you're talking about a dude who was actively attempting suicide in the beginning. He has hallucinations. He loses time. Etc
He is very ill.
