Marine met Oliver in the hallway near the library. Oliver told her that an invitation had arrived for her and Dia from Lady Susan Air. He seemed worried because Susan was known for liking the Duke too much. Marine remembered Susan from the previous party and understood why Oliver was concerned. Even so, Marine decided to attend because the gathering was meant for young ladies preparing for their debutante, and Dia did not know many people in the Western Region.
✕Before the party, Oliver suggested that Marine visit Zeromian. Marine went to his laboratory at the top of the castle. Zeromian complained that the Duke kept giving him difficult inventions to create. Even though he looked tired, he joked with Marine and then gave her a special silver bracelet. The bracelet could create a transparent shield to block things like water or wine, and another button showed something surprising, almost like CCTV.
Later, Marine and Dia traveled to Count Air’s estate. Marine rode a horse while Dia came by carriage. On the way, Marine admitted she was not actually experienced with these kinds of noble parties, but Dia trusted her anyway. When they arrived, a butler guided them to a greenhouse where the party was supposed to happen.
Inside the greenhouse, the table was full of food and drinks, but no guests were there. It became clear that the other young ladies were intentionally ignoring and insulting them. Marine felt sorry for Dia, but Dia stayed calm and cold. Marine was shocked because the disrespect was so obvious, especially toward the Duke’s fiancée.
Soon, Susan finally appeared wearing a flashy white dress, followed by several young ladies. One kind girl quietly apologized for making them wait and explained that Susan had delayed everyone while showing off her dress. Susan then tried to act friendly toward Dia and offered her an expensive diamond hairpin as a gift.
Dia refused the gift politely but coldly, saying she only exchanged gifts with people close to her. Susan tried again to become friendly, but Dia continued rejecting her attempts. Susan also hinted that Marine did not know much about high society, trying to embarrass her in front of everyone.
While Susan was trying to insult her, Marine calmly drank the delicious champagne and watched everything with amusement. Finally, Dia coldly pointed out how rude the Western Region’s hospitality was, surprising everyone with her strong and confident attitude.
I like to post spoilers for the stories I find interesting because I don't have much time to read novel due to busy schedule
