I get Yohan's perspective and honestly I agree with him. He's a guy that was living paycheck to paycheck and now suddenly his employer wants to spend money on him? Not a small amount at that. It would make anyone in his position uncomfortable and quite frankly- anxious. First Blondie pays for his hospital bills. A broken arm and a sprained leg? In my country alone that's at least 3 thousand. The hospital room? Add another 3 thousand on top of that. The ambulance? An additional one thousand. Now he wants to buy him clothes? Most likely luxury brands because he's rich and well, let's be real. He probably doesn't know what brands the common folk wear.
If I was in Yohan's position, I would've refused as well. If someone spent that much money on me I would feel indebt for life. As for the last bit of the chapter, the translation was off but I get it. Remember when Blondie thought about paying off Yohan to keep him quiet about him getting lost? Blondie probably thinks money really can fix everything. I'm assuming Yohan wants his mother back, which in this case, money wouldn't fix. Although maybe he was a little rude about it, he wasn't entirely wrong. Blondie insulting his clothes didn't exactly help his case either... imagine that being the only clothes on your back and someone calling them filthy. You worked hard to get those clothes and they are called rags. Not exactly a honey feeling. I would've felt insulted as well.
Going back to the hut is like a safe spot for him because it's the only place that's run down and ragged. Something he's used too. Something that's worn out like him. I would a hundred perfect prefer that over a mansion, especially if it's the only escape from a completely different environment. It probably reminds him of where he's come from. It's familiar.
Sorry guys. I'm on his side this time. That and Blondie kicked the kid. That's like kicking a puppy. Automatic strike out from me.
