He might just be exaggerating ( falling is pretty scary ) but when you fall and some chances you hit your head, you're pretty much gonna suffer BIG BIG or erm... die...

@Mikss what the other comments said is correct, but also if you land on your neck wrong you'll break it and could end up dead if not paralyzed from the neck down.
