Same as with Light isn't Good.
Heck "Light isn't Good Trope" was literally in the Bible / Torah (Lucifer "The Light Barer", Moloch "The Sun G**" (with rumors of child killing).) And other religions / mythologies also have this trope.
So ... this tool being popular nowadays isn't anything new. Well ... the exact mix and recipie on how it's played out is fairly modern (if you take 30 - 40 year time frames to be considered modern.)
