The emperor of Chu wanted to form a new dynasty which also meant installing a new totem (like a statue representing a diety). Yazi wanted it to be him and sent a representative to recommend him to the emperor, however a chancellor named Wen objected. He advised that Yazi is inauspicious as he is too bloodthirsty, a more peaceful and prosperous diety like Pixiu would be suitable. So, Pixiu was installed as the new dynasty's totem. Yazi took it personally and had the Wen family wiped out, that was the time when our Wen Xi here was murdered as well. His sister had disguised as him to save him but he was caught in the end. I guess we'll know how that happened later.
