@jjolaobaju probably cause it used as a symbolism as they want to mature they are maybe trying to cut their immature part and let it grow again properly

When you think about it, although it's a piece of fiction, long hair is a hasle. Cutting it short means she just freed a few hours of her daily routine that she now can allocate to more training.
But truthfully it's just a gimmick, don't expect mere authors to think it so far.
@jjolaobaju Cutting long or purposely grown out hair is a symbol of letting go of your past, mistakes and triumps, and starting on a new path or restarting anew. I keep seeing Sakura in the comments, and while I can see it, I also think of Iroh and Zuko in Avatar TLAB,
