@jason curley He has been gaining power this whole time. Not only is knowledge power, but he has been accumulating spiritual power from the start which is how he can control the flying boat. He also has a system, near immortality and lots of gear. On top of that, due to his constant regressions, his ability to manipulate and manage people has become epic level where he barely needs to try anymore to get people to think and move how he wants. 

I understand what you mean but honestly it's funny how much your brain rejects all of those other things as not being "real" power.
