Tbf joongyuk was interested in gilyoung since he saw him but dokja didn't know why even tho he read the whole novel so I'm guessing that means we don't know everything about gilyoung and he doesn't care if he kills so it wouldn't be surprising if something happens in the future that dokja can't predict plus he is kinda rewriting the story so they'll probably be some new points in the plot
