@Prinzinc What I find respectable is that they may be arrogant, but they have the skills and power to back it up. For them to fight on for this long while holding the line against a troll who is basically a swordfight counter monster. If it were to be something else that can't regenerate and doesn't have a super tough and strong body, the elves might have been able to defeat them. I'm surprised that they were even alive and kicking while fighting a monster who is a walking cheat code that they can't defeat without specific magic flames. Now I see why they wouldn't want to abandon their own especially since those are some elites that are hard to replace, and because comrades have a deep connection with one another, it seems. Since they called for reinforcements, I'm guessing that their idea was to hold out until backup arrives. They must have a reason not to run. Probably cause something is stopping them from doing that or they are too prideful.

@Md. Anisul Islam Well, I think it's a bad matchup for both sides.  The elves lack the attack power to kill the troll but the troll can't hit the elves because it's too slow and they are too fast and will use the surrounding trees to their advantage.  Due to the bad matchup, it becomes a fight of attrition for both sides and both sides are probably figuring that the have the best chance of winning if they draw the fight out.

It's hard to know what is in people's heads (in a story or real life) but their behavior up until this moment makes me think that there are far less noble reasons for their actions than others have ascribed to their behavior.
