Ch. 61
Since the "how to make a victim depend on abuser" part is over, I'll just continue chapter by chapter type of stuff :).
CH.61

Inseop is a serial killer. Sometimes, serial killers and psychopaths get drawn to some people whom they abuse. Take by example sociopaths or CEOS of companies-- they seek power and abuse the people around them (it's why they have no issue stepping over others) and rank ⬆️ to power.

Inseop doesn't want Gijeong to die because to him, she is an object. She is not her own person; she is only an object of possession. Serial killers though, function a bit differently than your typical abuser because they have a targets audience whom they lure and murder. Inseop is very empty as a person and man.
He NEEDED something to make him feel alive. That something is a woman who already lived through abuse. He needs her alive for his own ego. If he has to murder everyone to break her down, he will and already does.
He weaponizes her isolation and abuses her to the edge for not being the "happy go-lucky partner" he expected her to be.
Gijeong is a strong woman, 100%.
But some abusers seek for strong victims to break them down themself. This is a great example of it.
The issue is that she has no one really. If she leaves, he keeps finding her. Going to the police? To place a restraining order?..
It can worsen the behavior of an abuser when they found out there's a restraining order. They seek more control due to losing it.

--> gijeong was alone and isolated
--> inseop knew it and continuously exploits that fact

And a lot of high functioning sociopaths/psychopaths go to jobs like these --> Law, corporate, politics, acting.
Since there's a thrill of stepping over others, abusing power and victims to contain a strong image about themselves.

@veralol the thing about how most sociopaths end up being at higher positions in corporate and politics is so true considering all these ceo tech bros have been using people's open source work to train their models that would literally put them out of their jobs

Yes
It is
Most are undiagnosed, but a ton of them are; narcissists, sociopaths, psychopaths. But, ASPD is a spectrum too-- so it can go from mild to like high functioning
These type of people are the type that need to step on others
They abuse employees, power abuse, do mass layoffs, underpay employees (while they get the $), lack of complete empathy and a lot also are abusive (physically - sexually).
Because in corporate, CEO and director is the top in the social construct; they absolutely seek it because they already dehumanize everyone around them.
Everything is about benefits + opportunities (what can I do to get more social power and money?) which is why a ton of them are super super similar. They follow same patterns

Because power attracts.
Similar to Inseop,
They charm, lie, manipulate, outright abuse/threaten.

Law is a tool for a serial killer like Inseop, he can easily camouflage.
-- Work life; He works for law. "Is lawful" - "helps" clients. No criminal history.
-- Private life; He is abusive, a stalker, a serial killer and violent man.
The first instinct ppl have when someone like Inseop gets exposed is "What? How come? They looked nice."
(the public persona is very well used and weaponized for exactly that!)
