For those curious, they left a slightly gruesome plot point from the novel out of the comic:
Spoiler!
The speaker of the house was appointed new after the old speaker was forced out in disgrace. The old speaker's sin in law was the one who kidnapped Aileen - Cesare used his future knowledge to catch him sellign drugs early, but because it was earlier than originally happened, the SIL was the one who kidnapped Aileen in an earlier chapter to get back at Cesare. After Cesare rescued them, the Marquess, knowing that when it was discovered his SIL was selling drugs they whole house could be exxecuted, begged Cesare for mercy and is the one who showed him where Aileen was being held. Cesare agreed if the one-eyed Marquess would pluck his other eye out. The marquess did so and Cesare held off the conviction until the Marquess' beloved daughter filed for divorce, allowing them to flee.
The SIL was executed at the gullotine, and the novel describes how the people tear the body to pieces because a piece of a convicted person brings good luck. "The only thing that remained of him was a red stain." This same thing happened when Aileen was executed in the other timeline, and Cesare "cuoldn't even have a piece of his child's body" because of it, as he was still at war.
