When I first started, I thought it was like a huge misunderstanding trope style, but the more I read, the more I think it isn't actually a misunderstanding, but that their worries have sufficient merit to be taken seriously.

@ceasersalad it is a misunderstanding, but the one who misunderstood everything was jio.
@Hazel nuts yeah, he might actually be some insane eldritch being that looks and thinks he's human, maybe that'll be the reveal in the future, cuz for now it more just portrays him as a strong dude in a painting who wholeheartedly thinks he's human, and from the opening scene, makes us think that as well by showing us him as a regular dude before the whole gate monster stuff
