Comment by Galactic Navy Officer on Shadow

@Shadow I think the reason they won was that demon didn't have sufficient imagination, and he had trouble shifting between the methods he did have.

He showed four uses: Golems, launch rocks, defense walls, and whatever earth-powered offensive he was revving up for. He didn't try to bind their feet with the earth or use smaller or larger rocks.

"I Was Reincarnated as a Poor Farmer in a Different World, so I Decided to Make Bricks to Build a Castle" has characters using [scattershot], which creates and fires sharp pebbles at high velocity; the effects are similar to a musket when used seriously. But this guy didn't even try that, even though that would have been a serious problem for most of the hero candidates.

As for shifting during battle, each time the demon was pushed back, it took him some time to decide to switch to another mode of fighting. Seconds are precious in battle, and a good warrior needs to be able to turn on a dime. Arrogance might be a factor here.
