@Abiss MC was trying to break his engagement b/c in the OG story, he is a villian and his fiance is a heroine. His Fiance has a brother who feels like MC would be a good match for his sister due to him helping solve their issue with money earlier in the manga. Most of the first part was MC trying to get his engagement canceled but the brother isn't giving in. The brother is also getting married to a completely new woman, (afaik) unrelated to anyone from earlier in the story.
The scientist with the sword is MC's current master as he vouched for his life after MC was mistakenly taken as a traitor who (iirc) allegedly killed a number of knights while wearing enemy clothes. In actuality it was supposed to be a false flag event planned by a neighbor country in order to start a war but MC stopped it. MC was sent to this place by the scientist, but didn't know this was for a wedding.
