I was jst thinking about it but I'm still confused as to why an empire that is so renouned would ever want a princess from a kingdom as apparently insegnifican as Berry to be the empress instead of one of his apparently oh so capable concubines who have shown how 'exeptional' they are. (I'm trying to say how dumb they are if it wasn't obvious) I like the manhwa and will continue o read it but I'm just confused. Btw this is just something I thought of randomly and I've already read this chapter, this has nothin to do with this chapter in particular!

it was stated that they wanted a princess from berry to be used as a hostage. if fl fails to prove herself useful it would go the same as in the past.
the fl is a direct descendant of the royal family of berry, she posses great power. that is why in the past the emperor tried to persuade her into working with him. it doesn't matter wheter berry is an insignificant kindom, the king needs her power
@ligma in the hayday of monarchies they would take members of other kingdoms high ranking nobles or royal families as political hostages. This was to display that kingdoms subservience to the hostage takers kingdom. If the hostages kingdom betrayed or failed to meet the demands they would be publicly executed, their body put up for public display, and a war would possibly occur. So the purpose of taking her was to exploit Berry for whatever he wanted. Trade, soldiers for a war, or tribute.
