I am now even more convinced that the author is going by a cringy phase of trying to make this dude cool and brooding.
Let me make this clear, she didn't have to die! In fact this idiot could and should have done everything in his power to save her one way or another.

Yes, her last dying wish was incredibly selfless for her apprentice but she's also a woman that spent nearly 2 years taking care of and trying to heal him, HOWEVER even if it was selfish of him there should have been NOTHING standing in his path magical beast, cringy classmates or whatever could be, to try and make sure she has a happy and long life rather then accepting this sort of nonsense ending for her.

You utter buffoon! you literally learned to break away from your shell of depression and do some amazing feats yet you coulnd't use that to do everything in your power for someone that did so much for you selflessly, you needed to fight or die trying, crawl and beg if needed to save the ones you love since you had no one else, and your master had no one else.
- This is an insult directed towards this Nozomu imbecile and the author, it iritates me seeing this much stupid condensed into such poor decisions all for the act of showing someone's dark and brooding batman-like wanna be features when there's absolutely no need to.
