The ending was-... a little sad for people who supported both dowun and baek han. (this is just the summary of the ending the spoilers are down below)

Turns out dowun didn't really betrayed lyon with yang since he gave her poison after she got captured. Then, amidst all this, baek han and his cousin got captured and accused as criminals. Lyon went to free them and tries to let them escape but dowun appears and shoots arrows at baek han. But lyon gets in the way of arrow's trajectory because she knows dowun still needs her and won't shoot at her. She then says this time, she will do as he says, if he tells her to not sit, she won't. And in exchange, she tells him to let the two of them go.

And before this, after freeing baek han, lyon gives one of her earrings(the pair baek gifted to her as bd present after she sold the one thats a pair with dowun's) to him and tells him to put it back in place after he comes back. Baek escapes to his territory with his cousin and soon, enemies attack. He went to fight them and ends up fighting with that purple commader under dowun. He loses consciousness and is found by his palace guard coworker(I think it was one of the new ones that was assigned, the brown one)

During this, dowun tries to repair relationship with lyon(in his way) like being with her, doing lanterns. But unfortunately, lyon wasn't feeling that. She was pretty much in the dumps because she thinks she cannot protect anything. I can't remember that much for these chapters but at the end, dowun was in her chambers and threatens her while strangling her neck but lyon is not intimidated. They talk and lyon says he should put more strength into his hand because people wont die from this much. She then pulls out a dagger and attacks him.

Then, they fight and lyon is quickly defeated. Just when dowun was about to slash down at her, baek appears in time and blocks dowun's attack. Baek then yells he didn't expect dowun to do that since he thought dowun had feelings for lyon. dowun gets pis*** and says he has no rights to talking about the relationship between him and lyon. baek is getting pushed back because he had already injured his arm from the fight with the purple commander. dowun gets the upper hand and stabs his shoulder.

Lyon saw this and assits baek by attacking dowun from his back. dowun falls and lyon points the blade at his neck. She says she will carry the burden of the past and to avoid making more sacrafices, she will kil him with her own hands. dowun accepts his death and lyon stabs down but she can't. She says he told her to be cold hearted but she cannot be and that baek changed her and that people shouldnt be cold-hearted and suppressing their emotions. she says she wants to protect everyone and prove him that he is wrong. And when she says she will create a country that will protect baek, dowun, her, her maid, everyone, dowun agrees that her will will not be broken and then gets up and stabs himself with her sword. and then she crys and asks him why.

he says he is the one who found her before she sprouted, she grows and then when she blooms, it will be his victory. the castle is buring down at that moment and so baek had to quickly evacuate lyon and she was crying out to dowun while getting out. he is blocked off by wood beams falling down and and is trapped inside. Turns out he kept his engagement ring and the one lyon throws away and looks at them in his hands while thinking their relationship might have been different if it had not started with a deal before dying.

the epilogue is, the castle is rebuit and lyon calls baek and tells she has something to say to him. She thanks him for following her and guiding her to the right path,

to you that shine in a totally different way from the reality that i have learned.

but after you became my guard, we spend longer time together...

slowly, slowly, your presence,

the time I spent with you became very valuable for me.

and one day i realized it. (she goes behind his back)

Then she continues, she really think that, but she cannot do that, now that she knew dowun wasnt doing the rebellion of his own will. but she still doesnt know if dowun really wanted to kill her that night yet he gave up himself to keep me alive. he gave up what he planned all his life for her. Then she says she is here right now and all of this was possible bc of baek. she is here also bc of dowun. So, even if he wasnt in this world anymore, she wants to stand by him as promised and the says sorry. Baek asks why she is apologizing and that he is happy to serve and be by her side. for the time when lyon said she will grant his one wish, he says if she can grant it now and asks for the other earring he gave her in exchange for the feelings she told him today. lyon said okay if he is fine with it. The punishment for the rebellion side are death sentence of dowun's father and the grandmother k herself from guilt after yang is killed in prison. then there is dowun's funeral. she swears to herself that she will make this country an utopia and that is her happiness.
