@Mogaa it's like this: In his generation (let's call it 396th generation), Dad got the power. Dad has 2 children (397th generation), a son and a daughter, one of if them should get the power. He expected that his eldest child, the son, should get the power but it's his daughter instead. 
Now, if the daughter married and had children (398th generation) one of her children would get the power. 
And if that certain child also grew up and married, had children... 399th generation...
