Jungseok comes across as a red flag from the early chapters, he tends to give mixed signals (quite a lot) and seems rather secretive. And I don't think I'm just perhaps reading too much into it. However, I've mentioned before that he can be frustrating at times. We all have our red flags guys, but Jungseok's behavior is particularly vexing (he is starting to give me the ick tbh). If I were in Gunjoon's shoes, I'd be experiencing emotional turmoil. Who the fudge says, "I'm dating someone right now," especially in front of the person they're currently dating? The "right now" suggests a temporary situation, implying availability for future possibilities, which is not reassuring... The choice of words could have been more straightforward but still respectful. Not to mention the phrase "I have a friend with me" raises additional questions. Like am I tripping or if this is what he indeed said from the official translations; adds an extra layer of confusion and frustration... when you said we're dating and you're telling people 'you know' otherwise... quite manipulative don't you think?
