The background of having anyone who's gotten close to him taken away serves as a perfect story for his obsession with the fl who was the only person that some how managed to stay with him and wouldn't give up on him. The crown prince also isn't just a ass**** who feels like hurting the ml and actually has a legitimate reason for his jealousy towards the ml.
