@Moe it's rare but not unique. Some authors get bored so they do this. You can read a similar story in The Dark Tower series, where reality and story entangle. It's a modern schtick.

@Moe This is what happens when the MC isn't a self-insert. He becomes a genuinely interesting character with motivations and goals that lead to unexpected outcomes. This author is a master of character writing, and by virtue of MC being an empathetic character, he explores all the other characters as well. Every single character has depth in this story, and that's what gives it life. I genuinely consider this the greatest masterpiece of all webcomics and maybe of the current century by virtue of its character writing alone.
