Slowly but surely, manga gets infiltrated by the filth. The cause is probably brainwashed translaters here though.

It's a spirit. "it" works perfectly, just like with any animal you don't even really care about its gender anyway.

@Harlock He literally has an image of the spirit floating above himself when he's thinking about "they".

@TotallyAbsurd And I asume the bible is also infiltrated by the filth, as the bible uses they for people of unknown gender. Using "it" was for inanimate objects, dead bodies (including fish for eating), etc. 
But then again you may be using a bible that removed the words Christ used concerning Leviticus, that he had no time for kings playing g**.
