I think I'm the only one who thinks it's funny how a lot of ppl are rooting for and swooning over Eugene who wants revenge over the emperor who only defended his empire and his ppl because some imperial family from other place are killing thousands of ppl, plundering with no holds barred. I mean yes he did lose his fam but since he seems like a good person, I was expecting him to just live quietly and even feel guilty for all the innocent lives that were lost because of his fam (ik it's not right but according to common manhwa logic, an ml or second ml would've grown up like this).
What also ticks me off a bit is how they're glazing all the heroes and the victors of the war but the author is glossing over how gruesome the war was? For a war that lasted 10 years, surely the villains committed more unforgivable trespasses which resulted for the opposing powers to retaliate, right? So I really don't like how ppl be antagonizing the emperor just because all we see is Eugene being victimized.

And i hope someone won't even get me started with why there are still a lot of ppl suffering, I mean, if you read and understood the story well, it was not that the emperor was neglecting them or intentionally left them be, he's doing his best, and is working more to provide better lives for his citizens but just like in rl, he simply can't do it by himself, he can't attend to all these things directly and that was why he's been hammering his ministers down for all the illegal activities, mishaps, mismanagement he has discovered. I get that we were shown more of Eugene's life than what the emperor went through but, to antagonize him like he's the main villain and the cause of Eugene's misfortune is baffling. Eugene is a victim, maybe, but his only misfortune is to be born into such an astrocious family.

Also, I know Eugene is different from his fam but to plan and stage for an attack seems like repeating history itself. His target is the emperor but that's why war will be imminent which means more innocent lives will be affected again, so I sure hope he doesn't take after his family's steps
@SIMPai chottominute EXACTLY, I couldn't explain it better. I really cannot understand why the Duke is trying to get revenge. Moreover, the emperor is accepting in the empire even those who were part of the duke's kingdom and, from the looks of it, it doesn't seem like they're badly treated. I could understand a revenge if they were treated like slaves or persecuted or something like that but the emperor is genuinely trying to rebuild the nation peacefully so wtf, duke
