@JOHN WICK I disagree, The fight itself is a bit mid so I scrolled through it quickly, but I do that on most fights unless they really stand out, personally the story beats and the flashback were enough for me to still enjoy this chapter.

Think about it this way, He's not really struggling against this guy, but the power this guy got from "Davin", so really he's struggling against the final boss. 

Also don't forget, as shi*** as his personality and goals may be, this guy is still a long established elder of one of the 3 strongest martial clans, so he's bound to be at least pretty strong, plus having received the demon power, and the MC having to fight him in a complicated situation.

@Fray eggzactly there is a difference in struggling and understanding a technique he isnt getting overpowered nor anything like that he just understands the technique and destroys it not every fight is gonna be top tier specially whith this type of art design idk what these guys are on about
