You guys, I just wanna say that y'all are being so dramatic and hateful towards the ML. He's not a bad person, everything he did was a consequence to her actions. He never went out of his way to hurt her without reason. She herself said that she wasn't a good person. She has been manipulated, but in the end she chose fake affection above her own morality. Just because she's the mc doesn't mean she's a good person or that she can do no wrong. Bruh, like can we not dog on the guy? He literally didn't even treat her like an enemy before seeing her actions even though they were in opposite factions. He tried to get her at first, but she was really doing nothing but the empress' bidding (which were all eveil ploys) and no ML isn't that good either because he kind of understood her position. But bro had enough on his plate. So shush and use this

@suikerplum Pia never went out of his way to hurt her without reason? When he abandoned her in their previous life that's why she let herself be manipulated by the empress because all this time she wanted someone to understand her and get her out of her situation. And his family ordered to kill her as you said, the consequences of her action but he's supposed to be his fiance and he never tried to get to know her or talk to her because in the first place he never wanted to marry her nor he's family to tied the knot with the royal family. He constantly humiliated her in public by being with another woman that isn't he's fiance, who wouldn't go mad with that? On top of that she's been abused since she was a kid, grow up to have nothing or no one by her side. They're all not a good person in their last lives but he never tried to reach out to her. You said he understood her position? He never tried to reach out to her nor tried to know her situation, the only reason he understood her now is because the mc change her attitude and tried to change her fate this time so yeahm, I wouldn't give him the credit that the mc made for herself to make her situation better because he did nothing to understand her position it's all her effort.

In life there are nuances and you need to learn to read them. If you hate the ml so much you should stop reading this, I did it with dreaming freedom because the MC annoyed me so much. Everything was handed to her on a silver platter and we're supposed to believe that's the plot. Truly hated braindead s*t like that where people like to self insert.
Why're you questioning if he hurt her without reason? You can't even name an example where he did.
He couldn't understand her because there was no way to. There were no signs because the empress manipulated her to hide it all. He tried to see her as a good kid at first. But all her actions were so wrong because of the manipulation. So yes I stand by the fact that he never did anything wrong to her, except as a response to her actions. Also put yourself in his shoes. Do you really want to try to understand your abuser? The girl's family controls his and uses them for their benefit. He was already generous enough not to outright kill her on the spot for what her family put his family through. I can tell you that if the redhead was engaged to her she would've long been killed or tortured. Not saying that the bar should be that low. But if your fiancee is your abuser you would understand. He already gave her the benefit of the doubt, but because of the empress telling her what to do, she kept showing him that she is his abuser and there's nothing redeeming about her (ex. She keeps demanding him to visit her at unreasonable hours, she keeps whining to him (on top of all his responsibilities), all this makes her look unreasonable and tyrant like). Also he never humiliated her on purpose, he only danced with that girl to help out his brother. Did we read the same thing? (He probably should've explained it to her, but guess what before he could even try to explain himself she exploded on him after summoning him again like a crazy person. Because she was crazy back then from all the loneliness) Also, I was saying he understood her position as in, he thought (even before reincarnation) that she was pitiful and probably didn't have too much to do with what is happening to his family (i.e. she's not the one ordering them to kill beasts and pay a lot of money to the imperial family)
Let's just say because she's the mc she's made out to be extremely pitiful and yes, she is, but you can't just assume that everyone else who doesn't just crazily throw themselves at her and beg for her affection as a villain. Like I said the ML has so much on his plate. He's literally the duke or at least the one acting as duke despite his young age and he has to risk his life to kill beasts all the time. He has enough pressure on him to drive anyone mad. But he's always remained composed and patient with her before she started hurting his little sister. So let's not do this paragraph debate again. I already explained enough.
