Or maybe you could've just mentioned the reason why the manager did what he did? I mean you two were already talking about it anyway, why go out of your way to avoid mentioning it. It was done with good intentions even if it was a bit on the weird side. But at least you can explain it wasn't bc he was hitting on you, especially since the reason he did it was bc of something potentially serious.
