Continuation of the first comment:

No "are you ok?". No "where are you hurt?". No "it's time for YOUR med check". Not an ounce of empathy, sympathy, decency from Jaekyung to Dan whatsoever. And we're still supposed to believe that this will bloom into a romance ! That's laughable how insane that is (for real, i'm actually laughing typing this because of how crazy it is 😂). 

All of Jaekyung's "good actions" are motivated purely by selfishness, it's just funny at this point. Even the kiss a few chapters before, he didn't do it because he wanted to be tender to Dan for the sake of tenderness or bc he thought Dan looked cute... The fecking doctor had to TELL HIM TO, like "homeboy if you're not a tiny bit kinder to your new toy he will break, for real try one (1) nice thing for him or he's gonna straight up pass away :/ ". And Jaekyung did it because if new toy breaks, then no secks and no victory. 
Same with paying off Dan's debt. It was a good thing for sure, it is gonna help Dan. But it's just the motivation behind it that's a bit off for me. He did it so that Dan can no longer have any excuse to not answer his calls and be always available to attend to his needs. 
It really shows us that Jaekyung doesn't give 2 fûcks and a half about Dan's life, or Dan as a person outside of "Doc who massages me" and "Hole I gotta fûck hardcore-style every night to win". This chapter really cemented that for me.

So then I look at the comments and I'm wondering if i'm reading the same manhwa lmao
I know what I'm thinking is the minority here, and that I'm over-analysing a basic a** sm** story... But I had to get it out of my system lol. It's really fascinating to read the comments that say that since Jaekyung came to the rescue now they get why he and Dan will fall in love later, that the kiss was cute, that Jaekyung is warming up...  Lol my man Jaekyung is as warm as a frozen chicken nugget left out in the cold of Siberia

Continuation of the above comment:

I cannot see a way that can frame their relationship in a good light. Jaekyung will still want to pound him every goddammn day whether Dan wants it or not, he is still condescending as fùck about Dan's poverty, and he really has sub zero sympathy, in a way that's actually rare to see in stories like that

It's funny because I have read and enjoyed way heavier and triggering stories to a point where I'm very desensitized to most things... It's just that those stories had more self-awareness and care to them, from the author and (a good chunk of) the fans. I don't have anything against mindless sm** and romance, I read some of that; but if you're gonna incorporate heavy themes in there such as sexual violence, physical assault, imbalance of power in a relationship, then you should treat them with the care/respect they deserve. That's my opinion anyway, and it makes for more interesting stories imo!

It would have been better for Jinx if there were no expectations of romance, because this is just a story of abuse and class struggles and power imbalance. With the proper trigger warnings and a bit more thoughts put into the themes and characterization, it would have been less mind-boggling. I don't think the author even realizes that the tone in which they are writing has a big dissonance.

Aight I have to say it... Holy sh!t the bar is still So Dammn Low for Jaekyung. We need to talk about this chapter. 

Also something that's making me laugh (not really) is Jaekyung's reaction to the attempted ra**: he doesn't seem really disgusted by it, nor shocked, appalled, disturbed. Maybe it's because it would be a bit hypocritical of him... After all he has similar behaviors 🙃  less on the beating (but sometimes it's getting realll close) but forcefully shoving his d!ck into someone, oh he does that on the regular. But it's a bit infuriating to think about this because we just KNOW that the author will never make Jaekyung apologize for how he treats Dan. Worse, y'all can just feel how Dan will slowly fall for Jaekyung for just being a little less trashy than his usual self at times. I'm betting that in no more than 3 chapters he's gonna have his first moment of "Oh 😳 what is this strange feeling in my chest...? Why do I feel butterflies when I look at Jaekyung ?". I hope I'm wrong lol

Anyway i'm done time to wrap it up, no one will read this long a** novel i wrote, I'm not trying to bash people for reading this (that would be hypocritical) or stir up a fight, but I had to get this out of my mind ;) at this point I'm reading this for anthropological reasons, I could stop reading but it's too morbidly fascinating to me lol, I need to see how awful Jeakyung can continue to be with people still saying that there's hope for a romantic future. Also Dan deserves a lot, more than he's probably gonna get

@stupid goblin I agree 100% and I am not convinced as some people in comments pointed out that seme didn't beat gangsters right away just because he might get in trouble for it aka being athlete and using fists outside of ring 🙄 Because even if he did attack them first, it wouldn't be considered that he did it randomly or for no serious reason. I mean those gangsters beat another person and tried to gangrape him, it's obvious he attacked them in order to save some else's life. So he might get a call to make statement in police or in court but I doubt he would be found guilty. Besides even now after gangsters attacked him first, they might lie and say they didn't, so... Seme is still a red flag and so far I don't see his character development or redemption arc and I really want to see him change, because he is so good looking but for now his good looks have no way to win against his shi*** personality

@Blalalaika I forgot this angle and you're totally right! I guess what really bothered me was Jaekyung's lack of emotion in all this. He could have tightened his fists, sweat a little, look at least a bit disgusted... Just something to show that while he could not act right away, he still felt some kind of anger on behalf of poor Dan. that's what was really missing for me. But excellent point! I feel less alone now :)
