You don't need to score high on empathy to not trick people and betraying a clear cut pact you made with someone.
He was free to reject MC after the three dates. He was, even if he treated him ambiguously and fostered false hope on him. MC's attraction was shallow, in part, and those were the rules anyway.
Fuc**** other people? Nope. That isn't having low emotional intelligence, that's being an ass****.
