This doesn't make sense though? Why would he get multiple bonus points when be only lost all his stamina one time?

He went down to zero multiple times but drank the pot between hitting zero and fainting. This apparently stacked the fatigue into one big burst according to author logic
Think of it as a game lifehack where you find an area where you can lvl up and only once you leave you get all the bonus lvls
