@Hana ok. Here's a quick review of what I've read until now in the novel.

Duke harass her continuously. And ofcourse no one knows but claudine gets suspicious.
After some time Kyle proposed her and ask to go together to college.
Kyle's mother act like a bi*** and tries everything to stop the engagement. Ofcourse Mathias helped indirectly without getting caught.
Story goes on and gardner's money is stolen which he saved for Leyla's study. Ofcourse it was planned by Kyle's mother and Mathias was indirectly helping her.
Their engagement talks ends when somehow Kyle's mother got exposed thanks to Mathias and now Leyla and Kyle are not good friends. But Kyle doesn't lose hope. He reluctantly goes to college.
Leyla became teacher and no one talks about their engagement again. From here on Mathias's harassing intensifies.
Somehow gardener blows up the greenhouse by mistake and police took him cause at that time Mathias grandmother was there, but she is safe just got injured.
Leyla ask Mathias for help and he agreed but on one condition. He asked for her in return. Leyla reluctantly agreed and becomes his mistress.
Mathias use her however he wants and no one knows. (I hate him) he released her uncle.
Leyla assisted him whenever he want. But then one day Kyle came back and proposed her again but she refused and break his heart again.
Worst of all, one night Kyle came to meet Leyla and saw them doing things. And he jumps in to stop and got beaten by Mathias. Duke even kissed Leyla in front of him to make him more miserable. And Leyla once again break his heart ruthlessly. (At this point I don't like Leyla. I hate her too)
Kyle goes back heartbroken but still didn't think bad of her.

Kyle is the sweetest character and he will stay like that .
And with all that the author didn't give him his happy ending either

And as for Leyla , will idk how to judge her character but if she was a real one she is def. Someone who enjoys abuse , or has Stockholm syndrome,
If it wasn't for his looks no one would have loved him !!
