Its not that he doesn't want the child, he just trying to make the best decision for her, cause he know that he will lose the custody(according to what he mention) and would not be able to provide the child needs considering hes struggling with financial problem from the start of the story(he only got spoiled with money when he was with owens), thats why he chooses to gave up the child.
