Penelope arrives on the same beach she had been on previously when the Leyla followers kidnapped the children. She overhears sailors complaining and who try to shoo her away (she's still disguised as a man). She asks if anyone is travelling to Archina island. The sailors refuse because of the monsters but when she tosses some gold behind her they accept. She's watching the island with a telescope debating whether it's safe for her to go. She thinks she's fine as Yvonne is in the capital.
The former captain of the ship (she bought it) tells her they'll depart at 3am as there should be less activity then but wants to know why she'd go to such a dangerous place. She asks them do they remember how Soleil island disappeared in a day a few months ago and tells them how it was the middle ground for the Leyla remnants to travel from Archina to Tratan (where she currently is and where she was helping Vinter volunteer to feed orphaned children). She then tells the sailors that her master had been the one to cleanse that island and she insinuates that's what she's going to Archina to do. The sailors are terrified but tell her they'll do their best.

As she waited, she purchased a mask and robe to cover her face and then passed her time in an inn. She did debate the hotel like Reynold suggested but decided not to as the village was dangerous. Time passed quickly and she boarded the ship. As she waits, she passes time in the captains room and takes out her magic map she found with Callisto. In order to get to Baltar (where the mirror of truth is), she needs to be within range to teleport there.
That's why she bought the ship so she can teleport there as soon as she's close enough. The map still isn't showing anything yet so she covers it and thinks even though hard mode is over, this game has never been easy. The ship begins to shake violently and she falls to the floor screaming. When she reaches deck she's greeted with a quest asking her to defeat the kraken - the reward being life. The sailors beg her for help. She begins cutting and burning the Krakens legs at random with her wind and fire magic but the number of legs doesn't decrease. Instead they increase from 8 to 14. She realizes for every leg she cuts off - two more grow. As a leg comes for her she thinks this is then end and closes her eyes.
She hears someone call her princess and opens her eyes to see golden hair and the leg cut off the monster. Callisto asks her why she's staring and to burn the leg quickly. She's embarrassed but does it (2/14 legs). The monster is furious and wraps itself around the ship tilting it. This causes items to come loose and a barrel knocks one of the sailors into the ocean. As she begins to fall Callisto catches her with one arm and and hoists her onto the cockpit. She asks him to put her down but he tells her to do another spell.
She instinctively says another spell that hurts the kraken and it releases the ship. Callisto tells her well done and puts her down. Now that she knows how to defeat it she begins cutting off the legs and burning them with Callisto giving her backup.
Callisto calls her name and she realized she forgot about the crazy prince who followed her here. She doesn't understand how he got here as they're in the middle of the sea. She asks him why isn't he in the north. He grabs her shoulders asking her if the rebellion is a problem right now and why is she alone in such a dangerous place. As soon as he heard she had disappeared he immediately returned to the imperial palace. He asks her why she drives him crazy like this with fatigue and rests his chin on her forehead. Penelope's heart hurts so much she can't breathe. Callisto removes her mask and she asks how he knew it was her. He tells her, how could he not? If it's a battlefield or a conference hall he'd find her.
He took his hands from her shoulders and began wiping away the sea water on her face. Her heart is shaking and her eyes begin to burn. He asks if she's hurt but she says no and then smells blood. She notices the bandage on his hand and then scolds him. Was the earring cuff she gave him just for show?
But he refuses to use it because it would be a waste. As she tries to scold him again he suddenly pulls her into an embrace and rests his chin on her head. She tries to struggle but he tells her, now she knows his feelings. So don't do it again and then he buried his face in her hair. She remembers how Emily told her how he held her hand every night and never left her side. She thinks it is too late and she should push him away but she can't put it into practice. The arms that are holding her have stolen her breath and she's shaking. Suddenly a sailor calls out to her and she panics and pushes Callisto away. The sailors announce they're arrived at Archina island.
