@paper I mean its pretty obvious. From the small little flashback we got a few chapters aginit seemed like she got bullied at her code camp. So she probably had a low self-esteem and when she met her friend. She was probably just nice to her so she got hooked on that kindness. It's like how some kids crave their parents attention. And she's been slowly manipulated throughout their friendship that she sees some of the things she does and ignores it.
