The plot is about very bored and hormonally unstable angels making stupid choises
Gabriel and Metatron made a se*-bet that if Metatron is able to seduce the he**'s angel (the little red haired that I presume it's also the snake), Gabriel will accept being the bottom between them. That's the matter of Metatron saying to the little one that his name is Gabriel, in order to avoid future problems.
This is a flashback of the cutie red-haired, I suppose. Why he usually shows himself as a child to Metatron, while his fellows knows he has an adult body, I don't really know, but surely will come the time of sweetest revenge
