She earned his love, though in fantasy worlds like this love is unconditional, it did all start with her own kindness and ambition. She isn't undeserving of him. It's like saying if someone won the lottery they don't deserve it because the amount is so large and unproportional to the effort they put in, but it was their decision to buy the ticket and luck of the draw that led them to winning at the end of the day.
