As much as I hate to admit, if I were in his shoes I would've fallen for his lies and manipulation. After all, it's easier that way. You see, he was conditioned to that cycle for SEVEN YEARS. Completely broken down from the mind to the soul. It's really, really hard to completely cut all ties. You must have all the courage and strong mentally to break the cycle. Though, it's easier said than done. I empathize with him so much.
