@Ray different standards for different countries. Looking at the main character and his friend, we can see that they have a different face type than the blond guy. The red head and black head both have softer features. More softer colours are also used on their faces. I get it, but it is more of a person who looks very good falling down into the category of looking average, and so it's technically a glow down. The child version of him is also drawn with softer features and colours, so we can assume the softer features or colours may be what the author sees as the beauty standard. Just how in America, they have a weird standard that I would mostly call ugly. Sorry for my bad writing or mistakes, I'm not English or American, so I may have gotten everything wrong.
