If he confesses now, JH still might not realise what he truly feels, but he will go along with romance just to have MC stay with him -hard not to see how fucked up that scenario is
Rn MC can't be actually sure, that JH likes him in a romantic sense, cause you could view that attachment as that of a child to their caretaker (let's be real here) and that is what worries him. "I can't be your only one" - as in mc can't be JH's only pillar of support
