How is he going to destroy a portal? Now that I think about it, portals to certain places are locked to geographic coordinates. A bit to the side and it's a completely different world. He might intend to completely destroy the site where the portal to the vampire world is, making it hard to find that place and re-connect again. I don't think he would release null energy into the vampire world, that would be genocide and this isn't that dark of a comic. Although, Goblin Slayer would definitely contemplate something like that.

@Batou I don't know if they are capable of reconnecting. I don't believe it was ever stated how the portal worlds connected to Earth, or if it was, I don't recall.
