I would say but that is a spoiler. His talent was boosted by something while awakening.
Some people just have a better understanding of things even if they are not taught. As long as the can deduce and come to a conclusion themselves they can understand.
I'm not sure how the whole system is like but, magic(of this world) is much easier for humans to understand as something you see though it's only the results. It can hinder the progress of science which is a pursuit of truth. Hence, magic would just be a part of science despite how they are trying to switch both subjects.
