I don't know which one came first, but it might not even be either of them that's the actual starting point for the "son-in-law" stories like this. There's two main variant styles of the trope set in a modern timeframe like this one is, and two or three main variant styles set in a more conventional cultivation world with the whole ancient Chinese backdrop. All of which have anywhere between at least 2 and perhaps even dozens of nearly identical stories following said trope variants.
That's just the ones I'm personally aware of, too. I can't even pretend to have an accurate estimate on this because I just keep finding more of them all the time. If you ever wanted to try and figure out which ones actually came first, you have to go look at which ones were adapted from novels, and which of the novels were first.
