Yeah, he seems calm, but he is acting in his real life too. I mean, with this testing, as I see, he is really insecure. And this is interesting. He seems more mature, calmer although he is insecure and wants to look perfect. This is why I think, he is putting a show, because of her. But it is ok. Most of the people wants to show their best side around everyone, especially their loved ones. Just like him.
About the tattoo: I thought, maybe he is part of some shady group or the maffia (I guess, I just overthinked 😅), but I wasn't sure. I hope, Jodea will right and the tattoo hides his scars.
