I mean dont get me wrong but I dont really understand this reasoning for killing the random guy.
Ok from the comments (I guess) Shuraka used the pink hair guy for "research" purposes lets say that it's true. But then he never did it with the pink hair guy nor he cares about him at all. He also said that he doesnt care about the harem or whatever that is - therefore - whats the reasoning behind the whole plot in this chapter?
He obv doesnt give a sh*t if pink guy f*cks or not, so why would his personal guard watch the pink guy and report it to him?

Idk it just seems silly
Only if author is playing on some "historical accuracy" card, but otherwise it just seems so silly to me that Shuraka would care in any shape or form about what the pink or any ppl in the "harem" are doing. Even more - why kill the random guy - if he (shuraka) doesnt care about any of this - both should die or just be thrown out

Idk this chapter just seemed like a random silly little side quest lol

I think he did it to prove a point; as he said, he can't kill him to not upset his mother, but he somehow has to show he is perfectly capable of doing so and that there's very little that keeps his hand. You also know by this behavior, how easy for him it was to kill a random innocent guy, that the fight for the throne must have been brutal; obviously no one can expect Shuraka to remain unscathed and completely sound of mind after that kind of purging (not justifying this in any way, I am just giving an explanation).

Also, the guard tells him that pink hair brought a guy in "again", meaning he was already merciful once, as he let it go by not punishing him or the other guy; if my memory serves well, the concubines are traditionnally solely for the ruler to enjoy, and consequently are absolutely forbidden to take anyone else to bed, so the very fact Shuraka let it slide once already shows he's "merciful". And now that pink hair did it again because there has been no consequences the first time is like taking advantage of said mercy, so Shuraka needed to assert his authority again, to show it's a very bad idea to try to entice him just because he didn't really do anything the first time.

It's obvious he doesn't care at all for the harem, it was probably his father's (hence why the concubines are older than him), and it's still there only because of his mother; it's obviously something he wanted to get rid off and is now a burden (and a great source of misunderstandings) to him. It's clear he's leaving it alone as long as everyone behaves, and pink hair needed a reminder: what just happened will probably serve as an example and a warning to other concubines to not try anything of the sort.

@mgdae To call something 'silly' because you don't understand it is.... somthin' else hun. The 'Harem' is the property of the Sultan/King/Padisha. Simply laying a hand on one of them is an act of treason. So what do you think is going to happen when you sleep with one? The guards of a harem are Eunuchs, meaning they have to be castr*ted before even being granted the 'privilege' of protecting these women. And what story are you reading? 😅 Why would he care about what goes on in the Harem??? O_o That's where the corruption starts when trying to elevate your position and put your child on the throne! The concubines create factions among themselves and scheme to obtain the things they want. And they hold valuable information on what goes on in the palace that can easily aid and abet an enemy, so they can't simply be 'thrown out'. They just went through a blo*** civil war where everyone and their mother tried to assassinate Shuraka so he didn't sleep for 10 years. Anyone with a grudge or who can bring him and his loved ones harm will be put down. However, he can't recklessly kill the concubines because his mother will come to hate him. Hence why he gave Pinky 'three' strikes. Is this your first story on Eastern culture story, perhaps? 👀
