I’m going to make one final statement to clarify my position, because the interpretations and accusations being made are getting out of hand.
At no point did I say that the situation in these chapters was healthy, normal, or acceptable. On the contrary, I acknowledged that there was manipulation, pressure, and a clear issue with consent.
What I was trying to express is that, in my view, there can be differences in how situations like this are portrayed in terms of intensity and depiction. Saying that does not mean I am minimizing the situation or excusing the character’s actions.
I get that some people consider any lack of valid consent to fall immediatly under ra**. That is a perspective I can respect. I was simply trying to bring nuance to how these situations are represented, not to deny their seriousness.
Being labeled as having a “rapist mentality” and receiving personal attacks is completely disproportionate and inappropriate. You do not know me, and those kinds of accusations are serious.
It is possible to disagree without misrepresenting someone’s words or attacking them personally.
